My Story
From growing up on a small farm in northern Michigan to working in Morocco, Germany, and now New York City, I've always looked for neglected, high-impact work. AI public communication is no exception.
Research and literature on AI is exploding, yet there's a lag in communicating these rapid advances to non-academic audiences. The main goal of my work is to encourage public awareness and discourse of common-sense AI policy.

Prior to my work in AI communication, I worked as a video editor for several non-profit organizations, including Clearer Thinking. I searched for ways to make rationality interesting to audiences on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. This work is influenced by a project I'm working on with the University of Michigan Philosophy Department, where I'm adapting the courses “Changing the World” and “Critical Reasoning” to the high school level.

Before that, I spent 4 years as an educator and curriculum designer. During my first year of classroom teaching in 2020, I had the opportunity to completely change the music and performing arts curriculum from a class where students only performed others' compositions to one where students could create their own art, following the maker-centered approach. When teaching fundamental skills, I turned instruction into an addictive, Duolingo-type curriculum, using gamification, competition, individualized repetition, and detailed reward systems. In Morocco, I used research on the relationship between language acquisition and music to integrate arts, science, and language throughout the 6-12 curriculum. I turned down a master's in education policy at Stanford to continue this field work.

I studied Music Education and German at Western Michigan University, where I was awarded a fellowship to study literature and politics for an academic year at the Freie Universität Berlin. During undergrad, I won prizes in teaching, conducting and opera. And if you stop by the 14th St/8th Ave subway station in Manhattan during rush hour, you might hear me belt some Puccini or Mozart. :)
